The stigma and discrimination faced by people with HIV/AIDS cripple society almost as much as the virus itself. But a “social vaccine” for HIV/AIDS is well within our grasp. Working closely with partners across the country, AED develops strategies and programs that eradicate ignorance, encourage acceptance and erase barriers to prevention, treatment and compassion.

Evaluation Capacity Building of STD Programs
Under this, AED is developing and providing program evaluation tools, training, and technical assistance to state and local health departments funded by the CDC Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP), that will help them systematically evaluate the quality of their STD prevention and control programs.
SMARTWork is an international program to mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS within the labor force by reducing the rate of new infections and ensuring workplace protection and human rights of individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.
More people go to work each day than any other place on the planet, but some countries will see a 25 percent drop in their workforce by 2010 due to AIDS.
