From Marketing to Counter-Marketing: Analysis of Strategies for Women

Location: North AmericaUnited States
Funder: National Cancer Institute
Duration: This project is no longer active.

This project locates and analyzes tobacco industry documents to improve the understanding of how the tobacco industry markets specifically to women.  When completed, this research will be instrumental in developing counter-marketing efforts.

AED is convening experts in tobacco control, document analysis, behavioral science, marketing, and counter-marketing for this research. In its early stages, the project has searched documents and built a database cataloging documents relevant to women and marketing tobacco to women.  Through review, analysis, and interpretation of key documents, the project team will develop and test counter-marketing concepts that might be effective in reducing smoking by women.
