Development of Market Labor Relations & Social Partnership in Kazakhstan

Location: Europe & EurasiaKazakhstanKyrgyzstan
Funder: U.S. Department of Labor
Duration: This project is no longer active.

AED is working with the U.S. Department of Labor to provide workers’-rights training for labor mediation to employers, trade unions and local governments at the municipal level in Kazakhstan.

Ultimately, the project aims to increase the number of labor disputes settled by introducing tripartite (government, employers and employees) members in each of Kazakhstan's oblasts to the roles and responsibilities they have under Kazakhstan's labor laws.

Notable achievements have been made, including the development of tripartite social partnerships that have experience working together to develop dispute arbitration procedures.  In addition, local capacity for developing and delivering training has increased.
