Global Avian Influenza Behavior Change and Communications Support Activity (AI.COMM)

Since its emergence in 2003 and rapid spread, there has been urgent need for accurate information on avian influenza. This project is working to build an effective communications-based response to avian influenza around the world, and to better integrate media, business, and non-governmental organizations into public policies and strategies.

AED is providing a wide range of technical assistance for avian influenza behavior change to affected countries in Eurasia, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.  The project targets poultry farmers, vendors, and consumers to:

  • Reduce exposure risk;
  • Enhance national capacity; and
  • Promote long-term behavior change related to avian influenza.

Materials, strategies, and lessons learned are available here: http://avianflu.aed.org.
