Bangladesh Human Rights Advocacy Project

Location: Asia & the PacificBangladesh
Funder: USAID
Duration: This project is no longer active.

The Bangladesh Human Rights Advocacy Project aims to build the capacity of the civil society organizations in Bangladesh so they have the tools and skills to advocate for the protection of vulnerable groups. Through grants, the project supports citizen-based human rights organizations as they work to change social and political systems and to identify, publicize and pursue remedial action for acts of violence against women, child labor and other systemic rights abuses. BHRAP also provides technical assistance and training to organizations and participants, offers study tours and facilitates and promotes task forces and micro-coalitions. Ten Bangladeshi organizations have been awarded one- to three-year grants for activities ranging from promoting children’s rights to countering trafficking of women and children and violence against women to monitoring and reporting on torture in police custody.
