At AED, learning is a lifelong process. Through continuing education and professional development, we are able to provide the most effective and innovative solutions for the populations we serve. Through AED’s CareerVisions program, associates have a variety of opportunities to engage in training and professional development. A few of these programs are: CareerPower ® CareerPower is a fast-paced, interactive workshop that teaches associates how to manage their own careers through assessment and identifying competency gaps. Workshops are available for both supervisory, and non-supervisory staff and focus on the special career challenges of each group. Mentoring AED offers individuals an opportunity for working with an in-house mentor. AED’s mentoring program is a collaborative engagement between a mentor and a mentee focused on helping the mentee to develop professionally. Program lengths range from three to twelve months. Coaching AED’s coaching program is a one-on-one process tailored to help each person work on, and reach, short and longer term goals in job productivity, balance and satisfaction. This confidential service is tailored to the needs of each individual. A professional coach helps associates clarify a plan to achieve their goals, increase self direction, and stay focused on their most important values. STAR Program The Specialized Technical Training for Achievement & Recognition (STAR) Program provides opportunities for employees in the early stages of their career to learn from senior project staff in the US and abroad while contributing to the work in the field offices. In-House Management Training AED offers a variety of in-house workshops intended to help associates sharpen their project, people, and technical management skills. Workshops in behavioral interviewing, time management, performance management, and managing conflict in the workplace are just a few of the many in-house management workshops offered by AED. AED University AED University – Continuing Professional Education Using four modalities - classroom short seminars, online courses, Open University courses, and self-paced learning materials - we provide associates worldwide with opportunities to develop and enhance expertise in the programmatic areas in which we work, including education, economic development, environment/energy, public health and leadership development. These practical, hands-on learning opportunities allow staff to sharpen skills and knowledge in areas such as behavior change communications, monitoring and evaluation, training and facilitation, social marketing, and cultural competence. Tickton Fellowship Sidney Tickton Fellowship Program in Proposal Development The Tickton Program provides learning opportunities, including workshops and mentoring, for entry to mid-level employees who show particular promise in proposal development.
