Edward W. Russell Chairman of the Board

Mr. Russell is an expert in legislative, policy, and regulatory issues that affect the environment for trade and investment in financial services. As former senior vice president for government affairs for J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in New York, he was responsible for the bank's international government affairs, which encompass interactions with U.S. and foreign government entities such as the European Union.

He has served as a credit and marketing officer for the Scandinavian, Southeast Asian, and Mediterranean areas; as a country and branch officer in Milan, Italy; and as a representative in Tehran, Iran, for one of the bank's predecessor firms.

Before entering banking, Mr. Russell was an executive associate of the Overseas Educational Service, a nonprofit organization that coordinates assistance for universities in Africa and Turkey. He began his 30‑year international career as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Iran.

Mr. Russell has a master's degree in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, and a bachelor's degree in history from Emory University. He serves on the boards of directors of A-Home, a not-for-profit organization providing affordable housing and related services for the elderly, persons with disabilities and single-parent families in Westchester County, NY, and the New York Military Academy, an independent secondary school.

He is a co-head of the Pleasantville, NY, Business Support Council, a voluntary citizens' group for revitalization of the business center.
